English Breakfast Tea has a Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) leaf grade.   Our blend comes from the Dimbulla region in the Western Hills of the central Hill country of Sri Lanka and is grown at elevations of 3000 – 5000 ft above sea level and famous for thier teas of full-bodied flavour and bright high grown character.

the strongest of Chanui teas, dark, strong and very, very malty - this is one serious brew. Malthouse tea is rich, full bodied and amazingly satisfying... perfect for a long term relationship. enjoy Malthouse tea with or without milk.

Malthouse is a similar style of tea to English Breakfast but is much stronger and has a pronounced malty flavour.  The leaf comes from Kelani estate, at medium elevation in the Western Hill's region of Sri Lanka.

Nova Tea

this is a fantastic full bodied malty black tea - and the favourite of Chanui staff. celebrate your tastebuds with a starburst of flavour. Nova - drink yourself happy! enjoy Nova tea at any time of day, with or without milk.

Nova is from a plantation called Dotel Oya in the Western Hill districts of Sri Lanka, near a well known landmark called Bible Rock, 50km from Kandy. While the tea is from a high grown elevation it is made with low grown techniques to give it its distinctive malty flavour – very similar to the high grown Assams.

the second Earl of Grey was given the recipe for this most English of teas by the Chinese, as thanks for saving the life of a Mandarin. of course, he never actually visited China and the Chinese don't actually drink this blend, but why let the facts kill a good story? the truth is Chai Earl Grey tea is superb. this aromatic blend is fantastic with or without milk.

Earl Grey tea is simply tea scented with oil from the Bergamot fruit.  The amount of bergamot varies from different tea manufacturers, as well as  the quality of the original tea that is scented.   Chai uses more Bergamot than any other tea supplier in New Zealand and together with the good quality leaf make our Earl Grey a particularly smooth aromatic blend.
